Another Bruised-Up Angel Added to Heaven’s Hall Of Heroes
Well, as unbelievable as it sounds, my daughter rolled her car last week; the same car she was going to use for her commute to college (about 60 miles or so) this coming September.
It was a sweet car for its age. We purchased it from an elderly man who put quite a bit of money into the paint and overhauling the engine. So, essentially, my daughter had almost a new car, mechanically. To be fair, however, my daughter put more money into the air conditioning, brakes and tires.
It was a rainy day; one that had not come that often this summer, so the oils in the road floated up on the water, making it slick. My youngest daughter was on her way to her Girl Scout counselor to discuss some details regarding her Gold Award project this fall.
As I mentioned before, she had just replaced the front tires with new ones, but lacked sufficient time to have the car aligned. This proved to be fatal for the car. While driving on a very straight stretch of country road (a road that has no shoulder after the road edge ends, it just goes down into a four-foot ditch, or gully), she looked into her rearview mirror and then down at her speedometer. She noticed that she was approaching 60 mph (speed limit is 55 mph) and so started to slow down. While looking apparently too long at the speedometer, she didn’t notice her car pulling to the right, and off the road edge she went.
Understandably panicked, she naturally over-corrected to the left, which caused the front-wheel-drive car to loose traction in the rear, causing it to “fishtail.” She ended up going sideways down the opposite road ditch. By now her front tire beads gave away, and the front tires lost their air. The tire front left tire rim found a substantial parcel of ground that was hard enough to apprehend it, causing the car to flip on its roof.
Fortunately for her, the road gully was deep enough to cradle her cabin, only pushing the aft part of the roof slightly, shattering the back window. All the other windows were intact. Additionally, she avoided being launched from the car because she had her seat belt fastened. Held securely in place, although upside down, she avoided much more physical harm than could have been caused due to her fasten seat belt.
In reality, I believe her angel was in full action that morning, cradling her and guiding the car in a manner that would prevent her demise. Her car stopped upside down just prior to hitting a tree that was next to the road gully that had a trunk about two feet in diameter.
This makes the third or fourth crash that she has been in where she has walked away without a scratch. I am truly thankful to God and His providence. Check out this car!
